Dexter + Chaney Makes ‘Software 500’ Ranking of World’s Largest Software and Service Providers
Dexter + Chaney, Seattle-based developer of Forefront ® Construction Management Software, has made another business ranking based on the 
company’s size or growth rate. Dexter + Chaney was included in the recently announced “Software 500,” Software Magazine’s listing of the world’s largest software and services providers, published in the magazine and as an online catalog on www.softwaremag.com. The company placed 383 rd on the list, with 2003 revenues of $12 million. IBM and Microsoft were first and second, respectively.
The Software 500 ranking is one of several that regularly include Dexter + Chaney, demonstrating the company’s growth, stability and profitability. In May, Forefront placed first in usage among specialty contractors in the Job Costing/Accounting/Payroll Applications category in the 2004 Information Technology Survey for the Construction Industry released by the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). Dexter + Chaney also finished first in service-management software for the specialty-trades category.
Dexter + Chaney has made the Deloitte & Touche “Fast 50” listing of Washington State’s 50 fastest-growing technology companies every year since 1997 and the Puget Sound Business Journal’s ranking of the 100 fastest-growing, privately owned companies in Washington State each year since 1998. The Software 500 is a revenue-based ranking of the world’s largest software and services suppliers targeting enterprise IT organizations. The list includes both private and public companies; 30 percent of the 2004 Software 500 companies are private. The Software 500 is a worldwide list in that any company may submit financial and product information via the annual Software 500 survey, conducted 100 percent on the Web.
The ranking is based on total worldwide software and service revenue for 2003. This includes revenues from software licenses, maintenance and support, training and software-related services and consulting. Suppliers are not ranked on their total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business, such as hardware. The financial information was gathered by a survey prepared by King Content Co., and posted www.Softwaremag.com, as well as from public documents.
