AEMC Introduces Clamp-On Leakage Current Meter

The TRMS Clamp-On Leakage Current Meter Model 565 is designed to measure low AC currents, which are typically leakage currents in ground conductors. Low currents are measured using the 60mA and 600mA ranges. Leakage current measurements up to 600mA with up to 10µA resolution, on a ground conductor or through the vector sum on multi-conductors, can be accomplished.

The Model 565 may be used as a standard clamp-on meter measuring to 100Arms, as well as measuring VAC and VDC, resistance and continuity (with a buzzer).

ll measurements are displayed on a 4-digit backlit LCD. The high sensitivity of the probe (10µA and 100µA) is possible through special jaw construction, designed to accommodate the most common conductors up to 1.1" (26mm) in diameter.

AEMC INTRODUCES LEAKAGE CURRENT PROBE

The AC Leakage Current Probe Model 2620 measures leakage current shunted to ground caused by insulation faults. It enables the operator to locate failures when they occur, or anticipate them before they occur, without shutting down equipment or spending hours troubleshooting.

It is designed specifically for locating low current faults on high current loads. The detector is a sensitive nickel alloy AC current transformer capable of measuring differential or leakage current as low as 500µA. It may also be used to measure current up to 400A continuous duty. Its 4" jaw opening facilitate both multiple and large conductors.

The Model 2620 may also be used as a highly accurate clamp-on current probe, providing a versatile way to analyze unbalanced current measurements, leakage values on grounding conductors and ground loop currents.

The Model 2620 has switch selectable ranges and is terminate with safety shrouded banana plugs on 5 ft leads, making IP compatible with most multimeters.

Magnaray(R) Lights Up Honolulu Parking Garage

When Kaiser Permanente Chief Engineer Garrett Oguma wanted to improve the lighting quality of his parking garage structure, while reducing energy and maintenance costs, he contacted Tom Brennan of EcoLite, in Honolulu. Tom used the Magnaray W1PL36 (45 total watts each) adjustable flood unit with clear lens.

Existing 150 watt HPS (174 total watts each) wall pakcs provided lots of glare, but not truly visible lighting (s/P ratio = .45). Many days, the lights are on 24 hours. Becuase of the existing quantity of HPS units, the Magnray #W1PL36 was the ideal choice, providing better quality lighting results (S/P ratio of lamp is 1.62). With a rebate, the savings per year for electricy and maintaining costs amounted to $30, 427.

Cooper Crouse-Hinds Speed-Mount™ Nonmetallic Switchboxes

Cooper Crouse-Hinds introduces Speed-Mount™ switchboxes. With Speed-Mount switchboxes the device or switch is quickly and easily installed by simply pressing the device mounting screw into the device hole in the box and turning the screw to lock it in place. The spring steel clip locks the screw securely in place. To remove the device, simply unscrew the screw in the traditional manner.

Nonmetallic Speed-Mount Switchboxes require no tools to install the cable into the box and there is no need to break out knockouts. The unique conf

iguration of this quick entry feature on single gang boxes provides a self-feeding feature that eliminates the need to reach inside the box to pull the wire out.

The 2, 3 & 4 gang boxes feature a labor saving integral clamping feature. The quick entry also serves as a clamp. Each entry into the multiple gang boxes has the quick entry feature allowing the installer to simply push the cable into the box, so the cable can be inserted where it is required.

GREENLEE’ MAKES CONDUIT CUTTING EASY

The new Greenlee 8600 conduit cutter eliminates the need to debur the inside of conduit after it is cut. The 8600 is used to cut 1/2” and 3/4” EMT electrical conduit in residences, industrial plants, offices, and other commercial buildings.

The 8600 conduit cutter is used like other tubing cutters--alternately tighten the cutter wheel and turn the cutter around the conduit. When the cut is deep enough to reach the shoulder on the cutter wheel, remove the cutter and then simply snap the conduit into two pieces. Because the cutter wheel won't penetrate the conduit wall, no burr is created. The 8600 is also the perfect tool to cut conduit that already has wire installed.

The 8600 conduit cutter is made with a heavy-duty cast body for long life. The large smooth spindle knob is easy to grip and doesn't hurt your hand. The cutter wheel is also replaceable.
