1000A and 800A Clamp Meter Series
Extech Instruments offers its series of 1000A
and 800A clamp meters. Each 1000A clamp features a unique, built-in, non-contact InfraRed thermometer with laser pointer to monitor temperature and locate hot spots on motors and electrical devices. Each 1000A meter features Min/Max, a Data Hold feature that “freezes” the data in the display, and an auto ranging feature with a manual range override.
Both series feature a large 4000 count LCD display with bright backlighting which allows the user to see the reading in dim light. The ergonomically designed double-molded housing offers a better grip when performing one-handed operations. All meters measure resistance, capacitance, frequency, and continuity, and offer a Fast Peak Hold that captures inrush currents and transients. Each meter in the 1000A and 800A series measures AC/DC voltage and AC current.

Pass & Seymour/Legrand® Unveils New Line of Steel and Wood Stud Boxes
Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S) recently announced a new line of 22.5-cubic-inch Steel and Wood Stud Boxes for use with 1/2” or 5/8” wallboard.
The Boxes accept eleven #14, ten #12 and nine #10 wires, and the large 22.5-cubic-inch volume makes installation easy. A bracket countersink allows for #8 wafer head or dry wall screws with minimal wallboard bow. The Boxes are classified for 2-hour wall and ceiling fire resistance. The Height Site alignment guide and box levelers center the box and the device at a right angle with the stud.
The Boxes feature a “T” cross section to resist wallboard damage, and two stabilizer legs and a side stabilizer maintain device rigidity during plug insertion and removal. The Wood Stud Box offers hands-free positioning with EZ Grip ™ – a feature only offered by P&S.
Box dimensions are 3.75”x 2.25”x 4.25” and 3.75”x 2.25”x 4”.
Pass & Seymour/Legrand®’s PlugTail™
PlugTail™, a patented wiring device featuring a factory terminated connector with 6” leads, provides a fast, consistent termination.
Most conventional commercial wiring devices require installation with hot, neutral and grounded pigtails sticking out of the wall box. PlugTail™ pre-terminates the pigtails into a UL listed connector which “plugs in,” or terminates, the receptacle in seconds. Faster installation increases productivity at a project’s end, when deadlines and compressed schedules become costly.
With every device terminated exactly the same, PlugTail™ shows more consistency than conventional products. No over- or under-stripping leads and a keyed connector ensure correct polarity. Circuits with PlugTail™ connectors installed at rough in can be tested prior to device installation, increasing reliability and providing a better method for temporary power. With no exposed terminals application is finger-safe, eliminating the need to tape.
lugTail™ receptacles are ideal for hospitals, schools, universities and any application demanding consistent performance. Meet the next generation of wiring devices.
New Electronic Theft Protection System Available for Hilti Tools
With the new electronic Hilti TPS Theft Protection System, theft in the construction industry is pointless.
The TPS system consists of a Company Card, Activation Key and electronic module inside the tool. A company-specific theft protection code is set initially in each tool using the Company Card. Authorized users receive an Activation Key that is needed to electrically unlock the tools. If the tool is stolen, it will lock after 20 minutes and cannot be restarted without the Activation Key.
For even greater tool protection, the new TPS system works with the Hilti serial number tracking system. At the time of purchase, the tool’s serial number is typically linked to the authorized users’ account information. This tracking allows tool owners to report stolen tools to Hilti so notification can be sent if the tool reappears in a Hilti Repair Center.
