Emerson Appoints Shah As ASTEC Power VP 
Emerson Network Power, a division of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) has announced the appointment of Bharat S. Shah as vice president sales and marketing for Astec Power’s DC-DC business (www.astecpower.com). In this position, Shah succeeds Mark Rice who has moved to Astec Sweden as vice president Ericsson embedded products.
“Bharat has demonstrated great strategic vision and innovation in the power industry. We’re pleased to welcome him to the Astec team,” noted Pam Jackson, vice president and general manager of Astec Power’s DC-DC business.
With more than 20 years of experience, Shah brings an extensive background in the power industry to his new position, most recently as co-founder, president, and CEO of BIAS Power Technology, a recipient of The Product of the Year Award from EDN Magazine. Previously he was co-founder and executive vice president of Power Trends as well as founder, president, and CEO of Power Sensors. Shah earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore India and a master’s degree in Electronics from the University of Texas. He will be based at Astec Power’s corporate headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif.

Leviton Introduces New On-Line Installer Certification Program
Leviton Integrated Networks’ new on-line training program provides e
lectrical, low voltage and AV contractors the opportunity to become Leviton/Sound by Bose Certified Installers/Permitted Resellers and to purchase system components from authorized Leviton/Sound by Bose distributors . The Leviton/Sound by Bose Certification Course can be accessed at www.leviton.com/getcertified . The course fee is $50 and participants can complete the curriculum from a desktop or lap top computer at any convenient time and location.
According to Mark Cerasuolo, Director for Audio/Video Systems for Leviton Integrated Networks, “The response to the announcement that Leviton and Bose Corporation teamed up to pioneer Leviton/Sound by Bose has been phenomenal . By developing an on-line course syllabus, registration and test procedure with leading on- line training partner BlueVolt, we can accommodate a wider base of qualified contractors without their having to wait for a live session to be scheduled in their area . The on-line resource will be the powerful third leg of our training program, which includes ongoing live audio installation classes in the most active residential construction markets, as well as special accelerated sessions at key industry events and trade shows.”
The Leviton/Sound by Bose Certification on-line training program is a two-part course . Audio 1 covers basic concepts and installation techniques and offers novice installers an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of multi-room audio and home theater systems . It also offers more experienced system contractors the opportunity to review the essential concepts.
Audio 2 is a comprehensive training session that provides trained installers with the knowledge and skills necessary to specify, design and install Leviton/Sound by Bose audio and home theater systems . This session, which is required for certification, includes training in the following two areas:
Installation, trim-out, set-up, test and troubleshooting techniques and procedures unique to Leviton/Sound by Bose Systems
System configuration methods and tools, including worksheets that enable installers to more easily and accurately “build” system proposals for builders and end-users (homebuyers).
Participants who complete the program are notified by mail and receive a Leviton/Sound by Bose Permitted Reseller Card and Certificate . The Certified Installer Card can be presented to any authorized Leviton/Sound by Bose Distributor to purchase Leviton/Sound by Bose products.
To ensure that installed systems meet the highest standards, authorized Leviton/Sound by Bose distributors only sell system components to Certified Installers/Permitted Resellers.
