Fire-Lite Introduces Lite-Specs™ 2.0 Software for Custom Fire
Alarm Specifications
Fire-Lite Alarms introduces the newly updated Lite-Specs™ 2.0, a complementary, easy-to-use software program that builds custom fire alarm specifications for Fire-Lite fire systems.
Equipped with a data sheet viewer and data sheet list builder, Lite-Specs 2.0 allows users to view product data sheets within the program, and to add and delete data sheets referenced in the specification. In addition, the software’s new File Explorer window permits users to view the layout of all text files in the specification.
Lite-Specs 2.0provides basic categories which can include both small and large conventional systems as well as small and large addressable systems. Each of the four categories has a corresponding Fire-Lite control panel.
By analyzing user selections within the program, Lite-Specs 2.0 builds a text file composed of pre-authored National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 72 text fragments.
The resultant specification can be further modified or revised in any Microsoft Windows-based word processing program.
In addition to “building” the specification, Lite-Specs 2.0 alsocompiles a list of Fire-Lite data sheets that correspond with the specific equipment referenced in the custom specification.

New RectorSeal Acquisition to Revolutionize Electrician’s Trade
The RectorSeal ® Corporation is proud to announce the acquisition of the Wire Snagger™ from Bendy Co Inc. The Wire Snagger™ is a new wire pulling patented tool for electrical contractors that replaces conventional methods of attaching wire to a pulling rope when running wire through an electrical conduit. The Wire Snagger™ reduces setup time and disassembly time to mere seconds.
The Wire Snagger™ was developed by an electrical contractor for electrical contractors. Tools are manufactured from heat-treated stainless steel to exacting standards and are available in several sizes and load-weight ratings. The Wire Snagger™ can be used in sets to accommodate jobs with varying wire sizes. Setting up the Wire Snagger™ is as simple as inserting the end of the wire into the tool and pulling back, which sets the specially designed “teeth” into insulation. As tension is added, the teeth set deeper into the wire, improving its hold. After completing the pull, the wire can be cut 2” below the tool. The specially designed cap is unscrewed and the short piece of wire engaged by the tool is easily removed.

Leviton Introduces New External Clamp Design on Pilot Light and Lighted Handle Commercial and Industrial Switches
Leviton has enhanced its line of single pole and 3-way commercial and industrial pilot light and lighted handle switches with an ergonomic external backwire clamp design. The external clamp design offers streamlined installation by eliminating internal back wiring holes. Leviton lighted handle switches illuminate when the load is OFF, serving as a switch locator in darkened areas. Leviton pilot light switches illuminate when the load is ON.
As with previous switch models, the terminal screws on the new devices accommodate 12-14 AWG wire and permit easy feed-through wiring.
Leviton’s Industrial switches feature color-coded body covers to denote amperage, rugged thermoplastic toggles and housings, and large silver-cadmium oxide contacts that prevent sticking, excessive pitting, and welding. They are UL 20 and UL Fed Spec WS896E listed, and CSA C22.2 No.111 certified.
The external clamp design is currently available for the Leviton 1201 and 1221 Single Pole series; 1203 and 1223 Three-Way series; CSB1 Single Pole and CSB3 Three-Way series; Canadian 18201 and 18221 Single Pole; and Canadian 18203 and 18223 Three-Way series, with additional products to follow.

Gardner Bender Combines Wire Stripping, Voltage Sensing and
Bolt Cutting Into One Compact Hand Tool
Gardner Bender introduces the first and only wire stripper with a built-in non-contact voltage sensor. Available in two models, Circuit Alert™ Wire Strippers sense voltage, cut bolts and strip either Romex® (NM) cable or #10-18 AWG wire. At www.circuitalert.com, a brief video demonstrates the tools’ capabilities.
The professional-grade Circuit Alert™ Wire Stripper combines the award-winning, ergonomic features of Gardner Bender’s ArmorEDGE™ Wire Stripper with the built-in safety of its Circuit Alert™ Non-Contact Voltage Sensor. The new tools make electrical work safer than ever by providing both an audible (beeping sound) and visual (flashing light) alert to indicate the presence of AC voltage, from 50 to 600 volts.
“A common practice in electrical work is to first test that the power is off and then to strip the wires at outlet receptacles, switches, junction boxes and lights,” explains David Wiesemann, senior product manager, Gardner Bender. “Until now, this work required at least two hand tools, a wire stripper and a voltage sensor.”
Like its predecessor the ArmorEDGE™, the Circuit Alert™ features stainless steel stripping and cutting blades that deliver maximum corrosion and nick resistance. Testing proves that this tough construction resists nicks even if the wrong metal is cut. The tools’ handles are ergonomically designed and constructed of over-molded rubber for comfortable, sure gripping. Circuit Alert™ carries a limited lifetime warranty.
Electrical professionals and do-it-yourselfers can find the Circuit Alert™ Wire Strippers at home centers and electrical distributors in summer, 2005.
Product specifications and a video demonstration are available at www.circuitalert.com.
For over 40 years, Gardner Bender has been designing, manufacturing and marketing professional electrical tools and accessories. Greenlee Launches Three New Sensing and Scanning Products
Greenlee is introducing three new sensing and scanning products that will make finding wood or metal concealed behind walls faster, safer and easier. The SF-420AC Stud Sensor, the SF-530 Multi-scanner and the SF-780 Metal Locator are all powered by Zircon® technology.
The SF-420AC Stud Sensor comes with AC detection and finds wood and metal studs and joists behind
walls, floor, and ceilings up to 1-1/2” deep and indicates the presence of energized AC voltage. The product can be used in Stud Scan or DeepScan® mode. Stud Scan is used for depths up to ¾” and DeepScan is used for depths up do 1-1/2” deep for versatility.
The SF-530 Multi-scanner finds copper and other non-ferrous metal up to 1-1/2” deep and ferrous metal, such as rebar in concrete, up to 3” deep. The product
has many of the same tracing features as the SF-420AC, but includes a large backlit LCD display for easy viewing in poorly lighted areas and metal finding capabilities.
The SF-780 Metal Locator LCD display has on-screen graphics to provide the end-user with proximity, type of metal and depth of metal. The two button operation allows the end-user to find both ferrous and nonferrous metal and indicates depth up to 6”.
