On-Q/Legrand ® Announces the inQuire™ Intercom System

On-Q/Legrand announced a new name for its award-winning line of Cat 5 Intercoms – inQuire Intercoms. Renaming the Intercoms is part of On-Q’s overall strategy to position the product line for increased consumer-brand recognition and continued growth.

In fact, On-Q has already announced an addition to its expanding family of Cat 5-based inQuire Intercoms – a free-standing desktop intercom. Designed for home office or bedside applications, the inQuire Desktop Intercoms (F9018-XX) provide every functionality of the wall units, but they’re housed in a durable plastic casing to sit on surfaces.

The new intercom plugs into any RJ45 outlet that is home run back to the enclosure and can be moved from room to room as needed. This means the desktop intercom can be moved from place to place as needed. Rubber grips on the bottom of the units prevent them from sliding around on surfaces. The unit also offers a great retrofit opportunity for customers who already have an On-Q Intercom System but would like additional units in the home.

New Range and Dryer Boxes

Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S) recently announced its new Range and Dryer Boxes, available in both nail-on or screw-on mount styles.

Large cable entry accommodates #6 or #8 gauge copper or aluminum wire, commonly found in range and dryer applications. Stabilizer legs and a positioning tab maintain device rigidity during plug insertion and removal, and permit the use of a phantom stud.

A bracket countersink allows for mounting with #8 wafer head or wallboard screws with minimal drywall bow, and an internal metallic wire clamp provides dependable strain relief. The Height Site alignment guide centers the box on a reference mark, while box levelers automatically align the device at a right angle to the stud.

The boxes accept all P&S Flush Mount Power Outlet Receptacles and accommodate either ½” or 3/8” drywall. They accept twenty-two #14, eighteen #12 or sixteen #10 wires.

New Plugtail™ Right Angle Connector Simplifies Shallow Wiring Applications

Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S) unveiled an extension of its award winning PlugTail™ product line today. The new offering is a PlugTail™ Right Angle Connector that fits all existing PlugTail™ Receptacles and makes shallow applications easier.

PlugTail™ is revolutionizing Commercial Wiring Devices without changing the standard pigtail process. At rough in, splice the PlugTail™ Connector into the box. At device out, simply snap in the PlugTail™ Receptacle and mount the Receptacle in the box. Installation is at least three times faster than traditional wiring device methods.

The new PlugTail™ Connector incorporates the existing design, but offers the added features of right angle crimped and welded contacts, so the wire leaves the housing at a 90 degree angle. This design is ideal for shallow depth raceway applications or tight box fill situations. The PlugTail™ Connector uses a polycarbonate housing with 6-inch stranded or solid pre-stripped wires.

“The Right Angle Connector saves 3/8 inches of depth, from the back of the tail to the back of the box, easing installation in any multiple-channel raceway and most shallow box applications. The new design is also compatible with all PlugTail™ Receptacles giving electrical contractors more room with any application,” said Scott Bausch, Commercial Product Manager at P&S.

PlugTail™ is a patent approved product by Pass & Seymour Legrand.

New Ruud EZ Bay Plus TM Industrial Housing Combines the Best Features

Ruud Lighting combined the best of its high-quality Die-Cast and EZ Bay ® families of High and Low Bay industrial ballast housings into a redesigned, next-generation housing called the EZ Bay Plus.

The new EZ Bay Plus housing offers improved performance and longevity. Its thermally-optimized design dissipates heat more effectively than the Die-Cast and the EZ Bay Series it replaces. The EZ Bay Plus features a built-in thermal chimney which acts to dissipate heat and isolate heat sensitive components. This design allows air to circulate and cool the electrical components to prolong ballast life. It also permits operation at higher ambient temperatures and doesn’t require reduced jacketed lamps.

The new housing is available in Ruud’s cord & plug and roomier hinged splice box mountings for easy installation. The box has three ¾-inch and six ½-inch conduit knockouts and mounting holes for common junction boxes. The EZ Bay Plus is also offered in a revised “Skid-pack” that includes a set of reflectors, lamps and ballast housings in a palletized package to ease shipping to and handling.

Setting the New Standard for Vandal-Resistant Lighting

The Survi'VR series is a vandal-resistant exterior luminaire designed specifically to endure intentional abuse of up to 100 joules. Survi’VR is available in 13” and 16” round ceiling- or wall-mounted assemblies, as well as a 2’, 4’ or 8’ linear fluorescent version.

Stonco developed its Shock and Seal (S&S) vandal-resistant standards based on real-world threats such as prying and blunt force. S&S features for the Survi’VR round series include an air cushion to protect the lens and perimeter against front impact, as well as optional back trim and high-density foam rings to absorb side impact shock.

Round luminaires provide down and out light distribution in three distinctive faces with an optional field-installed trim ring that exposes a subtle reveal. The linear series utilizes T5/T8 lamping technology with hinged side panels to conceal lens mounting hardware from view. Both styles offer modular versatility and easy installation for numerous lighting applications.
