Innovative New Raceway Offers Contractor Advantages

Designer Series™ steel raceway from Wiremold/Legrand speeds installation by reducing or eliminating field cutting, avoiding on-wall obstacles, and accepting all standard devices. 4000 Designer Series raceway also features an optional downward facing configuration for receptacles and data jacks that improves connection reliability and creates more space inside the raceway to meet cable bend radius requirements.

The modular design of 4000 Designer Series raceway minimizes the number of cuts required during installation, and the scored base makes cutting easy when needed. Unique adjust-to-fit raceway couplings allow up to 4" of lateral movement so the base can be “stretched” or “compressed” to fit a given space and/or to align mounting holes with studs. The channel divider is integral to the base rather than a separate piece, saving additional time, and obstacle avoidance fittings allow the raceway to bypass existing conduit or small raceway on the wall.

Greenlee’s Ultra Tugger ® 2: One Person to Pull One Ton with One Puller

Greenlee’s new 2000-lb Ultra Tugger ® 2 cable puller provides the pulling force, speed, and mobility for one person to pull one ton with one puller. The new USA made lightweight UT2 is intended for quick set up and teardown by utilizing Greenlee’s Quick Latch system, and its two-speed hi-torque integral motor is designed specifically for cable pulling applications.

The new UT2 is developed for one person to use. It weights only 67 lbs, has rugged wheels for easy mobility, and can be folded up and lifted by one person, either onto or off of a truck.

To set up the UT2, just attach the telescopic boom and pivoting elbow to the conduit using the Quick Latch, adjust the boom angle and length to the particular pull and the UT2 is ready to go – usually in less than a minute. The UT2 easily attaches to any size conduit 1” and larger and there is no need to unscrew or remove the locknut on the conduit and there are no loose parts to contend with.

Greenlee’s patent pending Quick Latch system matches up to the threads of any size conduit and holds securely on the conduit when the clamp is tightened using the large locking knob. There’s no drill to attach. To make a pull, just plug the UT2 into a 15 amp circuit and turn it on.

The UT2’s double capstan provides two different speeds while the integral motor is specifically designed for the pulling application at hand. Gear ratios are also built-in to the UT2 to ensure long-lasting performance and avoid overloading. The hi-speed capstan is for loads 1000-pounds and less. The low-speed capstan is designed for loads of up to 2000-pounds. The UT2 can readily pull:

  • 3 X 500 kcmil cable, 500 feet with two 90 O bends;
  • 3 X 500 kcmil cable, 250 feet with four 90 O bends; and
  • 8 X 4/0 AWG, 300 feet with three 90 O bends.

For added safety and convenience, an on/off switch and a circuit breaker are located right on the motor and a right angle sheave keeps the user out the direct line when pulling the rope. Greenlee recommends using 5/8” polyester multiplex rope with the UT2.
