New Cooper Bussmann ® UL1953 Listed Enclosed Power 
Distribution Blocks Offer High Short-Circuit Current Ratings
With high short-circuit current ratings (SCCRs) of up to 200kA, the new Cooper Bussmann® enclosed power distribution blocks are the first of their kind to be UL1953 Listed and also recognized as being IP-20 finger-safe under specific conditions. The enclosed power distribution blocks can replace low-rated power distribution blocks to achieve higher assembly SCCR, which in turn increases installation flexibility.
Its IP-20 finger-safety specification under certain conditions makes it the first UL1953 Listed power distribution block to provide both high SCCRs and improved safety. Additionally, these enclosed power distribution blocks can be used to meet the new 2005 NEC ® requirement in section 376.56(B) for wireways. Extech Instruments announces its new 500 Series of Industrial MultiMeters. Greenlee Develops Trailer Hitch Adapter for UT2 Cable Puller
Greenlee, a Textron company, has announced the development of a trailer hitch adapter designed specifically as an accessory for use with th eir UT2 cable puller.
“This new trailer hitch adapter permits end-users to use a truck as the base for the UT2 for pulling cable,” said Jim Eisele, product manger.
The trailer hitch adapter attaches to the UT2 main assembly and fits into the receiver of standard 2” trailer hitches. It swivels so that it can perform pulls vertically, horizontally, or at any angle in between. It also features a right-angle sheave to keep the operator out of the direct pulling path.

In response to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive issued by the European Union, Thomas & Betts now offers RoHS compliant catalog number search on its Web site. The Web-based tool enables users to search the online catalog of more than 400,000 Thomas & Betts products by catalog number. The database also includes an on-demand compliance document in Portable Document Format (PDF) for all RoHS- compliant products manufactured by Thomas & Betts.
Effective July 1, 2006, the RoHS directive restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) in electrical and electronic components.

Foster Transformer Unveils Widest Range of Inherently Limited Class 2 Transformer 
With the recent addition of its 100VA model, Foster Transformer offers the widest capacity range of Inherently Limited Class 2 transformers in the industry. The SURVIVOR family ranges from 40 VA to 100 VA – the industry’s largest. Each model features patented short circuit and overload protection which allows them to withstand a direct short circuit in excess of 15 days. For applications requiring less power, the Low Voltage Class 2 family includes 5 VA and 20 VA capacities.
Due to their Inherently Limited classification, SURVIVOR transformers eliminate the need for external protection or the problematic internal fusing. They also extend the range of Class 2 transformers allowing them to be used in intermittent duty applications that would cause the fuses or circuit breakers used by other manufacturers to open. Elimination of external fusing lowers the installed cost and total cost of ownership of the product since no servicing of this protection is required. Field-replaceable fuses also include risks that field personnel may bypass the protection or install a larger fuse thereby defeating the protection and creating a safety hazard. SURVIVOR inherently limited transformers provide the protection without the costs or potential risks associated with external fusing.
Because they withstand overload conditions, SURVIVOR transformers can be sized for the average or continuous current load – this is a less expensive option the specifying oversized transformers which are not “inherently limited” to handle in-rush at start-up or peak current draw. A single larger transformer can now replace multiple smaller transformers, streamlining production and curtailing inventory costs.
