New Standby Generators Offer Higher Outputs for Residential & Commercial Applications

Generac Power Systems, the #1 manufacturer of residential and commercial standby generators, is offering an array of new models with enhanced features and higher outputs. Leading the way are two new“whole house power” products with 18
kilowatt outputs that are available in aircooled or liquid-cooled versions. Both feature Generac’s exclusive Quiet-Test™ technology that reduces sound output during self-test operation, making them as quiet as a car at idle.

“The new models reflect our market-leading commitment to bring better and more affordable standby power solutions to home and business owners,” says David Orfinik, senior vice president of sales. “Last year, our 16 kW model was an immediate success and now we’re bringing homeowners even more power with the 18 kW offerings. These are whole house solutions that generate enough electricity to handle all circuits, including central air conditioning. The 18 kW air-cooled unit offers the highest output of any generator of its kind at a very competitive price.”

Generac’s aircooled line now features five models with ratings of 7, 10, 13, 16 and 18 kilowatts….more than any other manufacturer. These models feature Generac’s own OHVI® (overhead valve industrial) engines, which are built at its facility in Whitewater, Wisconsin. New automotive-style enhancements to these engines will promote even longer life and extended oil change intervals. A gray aluminum enclosure is standard for the 18 kW model and is available as an option on the 16 kW unit. All air-cooled products now come with a three-year limited warranty for added protection.

Generac introduced the first gaseous fueled automatic home standby system in 1989 and has been America’s favorite brand ever since. In 2005, the company launched its QT Series of liquid-cooled commercial products and immediately established itself as the leader in the commercial category.

“The QT Series has been a tremendous success,” Orfinik says. “The newly expanded line includes both high-speed, value models and premium offerings that operate at a slower speed. With sound attenuated enclosures and the Quiet-Test™ feature, QT gensets are renowned for their quiet operation.

High Speed Value Models
• 20, 25, 30 and 45 kW outputs
• Operate at higher speed (3600 rpm)
• Steel enclosures in classic tan color

Premium Models
• 18, 25, 35 and 45 kW outputs
• Operate at lower speed (1800 rpm)
• Aluminum corrosion-resistant enclosures in gray color

Higher output QT gensets are available with ratings of 60, 70, 80, 100, 130 and 150 kilowatts. The 100 and 150 kW models can be configured as part of a multiunit Modular Power System, a Generac exclusive solution that parallels and combines the output of multiple generators to meet greater power requirements.

QT gensets operate on natural gas, so there are none of the fuel storage, spillage, spoilage or odor concerns that are common with diesel models. Liquid propane vapor versions are also available. Because of their favorable emissions profile, gaseous-fueled generators are becoming increasingly popular as a “green” solution for backup power needs.

In addition to being environmentally friendly, QT products are very affordable, making them attractive to a variety of businesses. When compared to the cost of an extended blackout, QT gensets can pay for themselves during the first outage yet provide decades of standby power protection.

“Our products have revolutionized the world of standby power,” Orfinik says. “On the residential side, we’ve got the broadest assortment of air-cooled gensets available, in addition to larger, liquid-cooled models. For commercial applications, the QT Series is the smart solution for business owners to protect against disruptive and costly power interruptions. Together, they comprise the broadest product line in the industry, allowing end users to select a unit that best meets the requirements of their application. Systems can be configured to provide backup electricity to key circuits or an entire building, giving home and business owners the greatest flexibility in both coverage and cost.”

With its momentum continuing to build, Generac is clearly the leader in offering the best and highest value solutions. “We offer the market the most choices, the best technology, and the highest value,” says Dave Rademaker, wholesale channel manager. “These enhancements make our product portfolio even stronger.”
