Product Focus

FILL. SEAL. INSULATE. HILTI CF 512 COLD WEATHER FILLER FOAM

Specially formulated for use in freezing temperatures, the new Hilti CF 512 Cold Weather Foam offers a superior alternative to traditional sealing methods. Unlike typical aerosol foam sealants, CF 512 Foam can dispense and cure at temperatures as low as 30 degrees Farenheit. The product is ideal for restricting air, sound, dirt and water infiltration in a variety of applications.

The CF 512 Foam has also been evaluated by the International Code Council Evaluation Service for use as an alternative material for fireblocking in Type V non fire-rated wood frame construction (refer to ESR 2179). The high performance, high yield foam is designed for filling around penetrations and general gap/crack applications, such as insulating around electrical outlet boxes and filling openings around HVAC ducts, pipe and cable penetrations.

The product is a recognizable orange color to distinguish from other foam materials (not for use as a firestop).

The CF 512 Cold Weather Foam helps save energy by reducing air infiltration. For precision installation, the foam is used with the Hilti Premium CF DS-1 dispenser. Its high quality valve prevents pressure loss, prolongs shelf life and prevents waste.

Architectural Area Lighting Expands its Line of Providence® Fixtures
-New size fixtures offer more variety for this popular product-

Architectural Area Lighting (AAL), the leading provider of architectural outdoor fixtures for the commercial, architectural, and municipal building markets, in response to popular demand, is expanding its popular line of Providence® fixtures. The two new fixtures provide depth to AAL's current Providence family and offers customers three scales of luminaires from which to select, to meet the proportion requirements of multiple mounting elevations within an architectural construction site.

The Providence, introduced to the marketplace in early 2005, is one of the hottest specified outdoor fixtures on the market today. The fixture's modern redefinition of the traditional coach lantern paired with a precision performance optical system has produced a large demand for the original-sized product among architects and lighting specifiers.

" Providence was an instant success," said George Preston, AAL vice president and general manager. "As a rule, our new product development initiatives begin with the needs and requests of our customers. They wanted broader scale options in the Providence line, and thus the Providence -small (PROS) and Providence-large (PROL) were created."

Providence are transitional style fixtures that combine modern lighting performance with aesthetics in a traditional form. The fixtures utilize efficient lamp sources and electronic ballast options for longer lamp life and color correction, making them ideal for use in a variety of settings such as mixed-use retail, commercial, educational, municipal and downtown renovations.

The elegantly designed Providence PROS fixture, measuring 11.52" x 19.44", is made of die cast aluminum for reliability, robust construction and corrosion resistance. The fixture is available in four mounting options, including pole and wall mounting and above or below the arm. The Providence PROS fixture features indirect asymmetric and symmetric cut-off optical systems, as well as direct, full cut-off optical systems. The fixture slips over a 3" pole for mounting and coordinates well with medium and large models of the Providence family.

The Providence PROL fixture features die cast aluminum for corrosion resistance. The 23.6" x 38.95" fixture is available in four optical configurations, including type 2, 3, 4 and 5 full cut-off, horizontal reflectors. In addition, the fixture features tool-less access and removal of the reflector, lamp and ballast. The Providence PROL slips over a 5" O.D. pole or a 4" tenon for arm mounting and PCA-T option.

Both the Providence PROS and PROL fixtures include a single point steel latch that opens a hinged top and ballast compartment. In addition, each fixture utilizes a memory retentive silicone gasket that seals out dust, dirt, insects, and other contaminants for optimum lighting performance. The fixtures feature a powder coat finish available in 13 standard colors, each with a polychrome primer.

Architectural Area Lighting (AAL), headquartered in La Mirada, Calif., is a leading provider of architectural outdoor fixtures for the commercial, municipal and institutional building markets. AAL products are designed and manufactured to meet both the elegant aesthetic and superior performance needs of its audiences. Featuring a broad range of decorative outdoor luminaires, in both contemporary as well as traditional styles, the company's assortment of lighting products can be specified and installed for use in mixed-use retail, commercial and educational applications; as well as municipal and downtown renovations, and residential developments. Architectural Area Lighting is one of the brands of the Hubbell Lighting family. For additional information visit www.aal.net.

New Staco FirstLine® 924 Provides Cost Effective Emergency Lighting Power for All Lighting Systems

Staco Energy Products Co. introduces the FirstLine® 924 three-phase Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) central emergency lighting system for 8 – 16 kW applications. This true on-line, double-conversion central inverter provides computer grade power quality for any lighting system, including incandescent, magnetic and electronic fluorescent ballasts, high power factor compact fluorescent, high intensity discharge (HID), high pressure sodium (HSD), and metal halide (MH). In addition to providing a continuous 90-minute (minimum) power supply during blackouts, the FirstLine® 924 isolates and protects the connected load from damaging sags, swells, harmonics, noise, and voltage imbalances in the primary AC supply. Isolating the connected load from irregularities in the primary AC supply can significantly increase the life expectancy of lighting systems and reduce the long-term cost of ownership.

In the event of an AC power failure, the FirstLine® 924 automatically transfers to battery power, providing a continuous power supply for 90-minutes. When power returns, the FirstLine® 924 automatically recharges the batteries in preparation for the next power disturbance. Three-phase operations support three-phase or single-phase loads. Input voltage rating is 208Vac or 480Vac with +/- 20% range, for an effective input range of 166-250Vac and 384-576Vac respectively, at 60 Hz. Output voltage is regulated to +/-1% of nominal at full load. Total Harmonic Distortion is ≤ 5% for non-linear loads, and ≤ 3% for linear loads.
