Promotes Robert Bourdet and Michael Nann to the Position of Vice President
W. Bradley Electric Inc. (WBE) has promoted Robert Bourdet, 65, and Michael Nann, 43, both of Novato to the position of vice president.
Bourdet has served as division manager since 1999, in charge of the entire electrical division, including project managers and estimating. He joined WBE in 1994 as senior project engineer and supervisor, managing large projects and coordinating labor and materials for projects. Prior to that he worked as a project manager with Northern Electric Inc. as a project manager and Collins Electric Company of San Francisco as a foreman. He is an instructor for electrical apprentices with San Francisco Community College.
Nann has worked as division manager for the firmÕs security control systems since 1999 with responsibilities including overseeing all bids and projects, designing infrastructure, project budgeting, value engineering and more. His projects have included the Transamerica Pyramid, Advent Software, United Airlines, Bank of America and the Moscone Convention Center. He was superintendent and senior project manager for McMillan Corporations prior to joining WBE.
WBE is the largest electrical contractor in the North Bay with 240 employees. The six-division company offers an electrical division, as well as telecommunications with data and voice cabling, networking, audiovisual, security and traffic signal divisions. It has an annual sales volume of more than $60 million.
P&S’S JACK WELLS TO RECEIVE FIRST ANSI ELECTROTECHNOLOGY MEDAL
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) named Jack Wells of Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S) the first recipient of its Elihu Thomson Electrotechnology Medal. Wells was honored at the 2007 ANSI Awards Banquet and Ceremony, Oct. 17 in Washington, D.C.
The ANSI introduced this new award to recognize “an individual who has contributed in an exceptional, dedicated way to the field of electrotechnology standardization, conformity assessment and related activities both at the national and international levels.” Wells was chosen for his individual leadership accomplishments within the electrotechnology standardization and conformity assessment fields.
“Jack has worked tirelessly to manage industry relations and improve codes and standards, and he’s become a respected resource throughout the electrical world,” said Mike Gambino, president and chief executive officer of Electrical Wiring Systems, Legrand North America. “Jack has been part of the P&S family for 45 years, and saying we’re proud of him is an understatement. This is a tremendous honor.” Wells, vice president-corporate development at P&S, joined the company in 1962 and has held various product management, sales and marketing management, and executive positions. Wells is responsible for business development and management of P&S’s industry relations with various organizations including NEMA, NFPA, IEC and UL.
The ANSI annual leadership and service awards program is a long-standing tradition, recognizing and honoring the creativity, dedication and vision of individuals who contribute to and participate in the U.S. and global voluntary standards-setting and conformity assessment activities.
Eaton Expands Power Quality Business With New Small Systems Division
Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation has expanded its global Power Quality business by acquiring Schneider Electric's small systems business of MGE, becoming the world's second largest supplier of power protection solutions.
Eaton completed its acquisition of the small systems business of MGE, known as MGE Office Protection Systems, on Nov. 1 for €425 million ($612 million at current exchange rates).
"This transaction is exciting news for Eaton and MGE Office Protection Systems customers,” said Tom Gross, vice president and president, Power Quality and Control Operations of Eaton's Electrical Group. "This acquisition enhances our position in the power quality business by increasing scale and geographic scope in key areas including Europe. We will build on MGE Office Protection Systems' impressive track record of relationships in distribution channels and increase our global manufacturing capabilities in Asia.”
MGE Office Protection Systems designs and manufactures a wide range of electrical power protection and solutions for enterprises, small business and homes.
